The use of CPR dates all the way back to 1740, yet even today, most Americans don’t know how to perform it. Given properly and immediately to sudden cardiac arrest victims, CPR can save lives.

Heart attacks and other life-threatening emergencies can happen anywhere, even in your workplace. Giving CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can greatly increase the victim’s chance of survival.

The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) training reinforces healthcare professionals’ understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, performing basic steps CPR, relieving choking, using an AED, and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival.
